Creating a SITES Certified garden

SITES is a sustainability-focused framework that serves as a template for landscape architects, designers and landscapers to design towards practices that protect ecosystems and enhance the constellation of benefits they provide, such as climate regulation, carbon storage, wildlife habitat, and flood mitigation. SITES provides performance measurements, based on a point system, rather than proscribes practices, enabling design teams to be flexible and creative as they develop beautiful, functional and sustainable landscapes. Landscape architect Debra Gunther, FASLA, LEED AP BD+C, SITES, will talk about the performance measurements and the SITES certification process, and how designers and landscapers can use this invaluable tool and the SITES certification benchmarks as they work towards designing landscapes that are truly sustainable.
